Castle owner fed up with ‘ghost hunters’ The owner of Castle Claremont says he is fed up with would-be ”ghost hunters” bothering visitors late at night. Police removed four teenagers from the property on Saturday evening after the group claimed they wanted to see the ”ghost”. Rob Young, the owner of the Mt Horrible property, said it was a semi-regular occurrence. Young said the legend of the ghost might have started with the previous owner, John West. In 2001, West offered $100 to anyone who could spend two consecutive nights in the castle’s supposedly haunted shower block. It seems that West might have had been a bit of a cheater, if it’s true that he stuck a possum in the shower block to scare off contenstants. Young himself is sure there is no ghost in “Castle” Claremont and if there ever was, it left when West moved out. He’s getting rather annoyed at the late night ghost hunters trepassing on his property as they wake up residents. But, that’s the price you pay for a haunted reputation.
